Dev's Discoveries

"PLAY is a child's Work. Children play to learn to grow and to discover the world around them and for anyone to do the proper job, they need the proper tools. "

Jibber -Jabber

(and the wisdom of kids)

 Jibber-Jabber

"Parents everywhere realize that the most powerful combination of emotions in the world is not called out by any grand cosmic event, nor is it found in novels or history books, but merely by a parent gazing down upon a sleeping child. When doing so, the truth of the words of Charles M. Dickinson come to mind:

They are idols of hearts and of household!

They are angels of God in disguise;

The sunlight still sleeps in their tresses,

His glory still gleams in their eyes;

These truants from home and from heaven,

They have made me more gentle and mild;

And I know now how Jesus could liken

The kingdom of God to a child. "

-From The Children, in Jack M. Lyon and others, editors, Best-Loved Poems of the LDS People (1996), 21

In our daily experiences with children, we discover they are most perceptive and often utter profound truths. Is it Jibber-Jabber? No, it is the wisdom of kids.

"Awake , my sons, and be men,

and be determined in one mind

and one heart, united in all things

Wherefore, lift up yo ur hearts and rejoice!

Put on the armor of righteousness

and be faithful until I come

That where I am ye shall be also."

"Quotes"

On Patriotism - "I wish I had a little flag, I'd wave it!"

On Courage - "Mom there's a war going on out there, but don't worry, I'll protect you!"

On Joy - "Momma, be happy!" Children are a joy and will fill your home with happiness if you let them.

"Are boys like me hard to train?"

 "But I don't want a girl cheese samich, I want a boy cheese samich!"

"My batteries are running out!" even energizers eventually run out.

"Go back to bed momma, your ornery!" Don't you wish you could?

"Mom, what color is my blood?" "Red" I answer, "Nuh-uh! It's blue because I'm a boy!"
